It has prioritized its security by moving its website and email from an open, and publicly available, domain (.com, .net, .biz, etc.) to the verified and restricted .BANK domain, and by setting up our mandatory, monitored, Security Requirements.

What customers should know. .BANK is like ‘.gov’ and ‘.edu’, but for the banking sector. By looking for .BANK at the end of email addresses and website URLs you can confirm the email or website is authentically from a bank; the name to the left of the ‘dot’ tells you which bank. Making a habit of looking for the .BANK will help protect you from phishing and spoofing attacks that collect personal information or login credentials used for identity theft and financial fraud. Who is fTLD Registry Services? fTLD was formed by a coalition of banks, insurance companies and financial services trade associations from around the world to operate the .BANK and .INSURANCE domains. We are responsible for:

• Developing the Security Requirements banks must have in place to use their .BANK domains.
• Monitoring for compliance with our Security Requirements to ensure banks’ defenses remain in place and functioning.
• Verifying that all banks entering the space are chartered, regulated and active, and only register domains that match their legal name or branding.
• Repeating our verification process annually for every bank to ensure they continue to remain eligible for, and in control of, their .BANK domain name(s).
